SportVU launches OmniVU AT IBC 2007A new paradigm in sports replays Amsterdam, Netherlands – September 2nd,
2007 – SportVU, a technology company focused on improving
sports coverage and viewers experience, will demonstrate for the first time
it’s revolutionary Replay system, OmniVU, at IBC 2007, held in Amsterdam
from September 7 through 11, on stand 7.830. OmniVU generates instant replays
of any sports event showing the real action (not graphics) from all possible
viewpoints as though the event time was frozen and a real camera was flying
around it. More virtual pan, tilt and zoom camera motions can be integrated
as well. SportVU combines its sophisticated image analysis algorithms
with standard hardware to generate most insightful yet low cost replays.
Fans and commentators get an immersive and interesting omni-directional view
of the play. Gal Oz, CEO of SportVU notes, “OmniVU is a new paradigm in sports replays. The essence of a replay is the showing of the same event from different viewpoints. We show it continuously from ALL viewpoints. The virtual camera fly can be stopped at the most significant viewpoint and virtual pan, tilt and zoom motions may be executed from that point. Due to our image processing technology the resultant system is low cost, logistically simple and very friendly to operate. We believe this is a new era in sports broadcasting.
